A New York City Schooling

In the shadow of monsters
who will chew us apart
for their own glory,
I find myself in a school of faces,
caught in a current of humanity
along this city street.
We’re fish-eyed and curious,
moving together en masse,
fluid in our collaboration.
The ones with greedy teeth
can never catch this.
